July Box: Sweet Summertime

Our July box marked a pretty exciting change for Treatsie as we launched our first house-made product: Treatsie Nectar Pops! For the month of July, we had two assortments. People often ask when there are multiple versions of a monthly box how we decide who gets what, and the answer is, it depends. Usually, what happens is when working with smaller vendors, we can’t always get enough product to fill everyone’s boxes with the same stuff. So we will bring back items that are popular that might have been in a box before. BUT we only send those items to new subscribers. For example, if we featured an item in a box last September, we will only send it this month to people who have signed up since October of last year. Our goal is to never repeat the same item twice in the monthly boxes. With that said, if you were a subscriber last September and then canceled and started back this May, there’s a chance you could get something you saw last year. (Does that make sense? I always feel like I’m rambling, but I wanted you guys to know there is method to our madness.)

On to the boxes!

The Teal Card:

Raspberry Lime and Blueberry & Acai Nectar Pops:

Both stunning and delicious, these lollipops are studded with freeze-dried berries for real berry flavor. Enjoy two fresh flavors: Raspberry Lime and Blueberry & Acai.

Why we love them:
Clearly we’re a fan of the pops (you know, since we made them), but let’s talk about what’s going on with them. The Raspberry Lime has a nice mild lime flavor and the freeze-dried raspberries add a fun punch of flavor when you get to them. The Blueberry & Acai has fragrant sweetness with those beautiful blueberries studded throughout.

Marshmallow Farms
Classic Crispy Square:

Made in small batches, this classic favorite is a delicious combination of crispy rice and marshmallows. Each grain of crisp rice is hand-selected and paired with each marshmallow to allow for optimal harmony in every scrumptious bite.

Why we love them:
Who doesn’t love a rice crispy treat? Crunchy, sticky, sweet and just plain yummy. Plus with these high-quality ingredients, it’s a treat you don’t feel bad for enjoying.

Chocolate Twist
Burnt Toast Caramels:

One day at lunch, the confectioners at Chocolate Twist accidentally burned their toast. So, like true creatives, they crushed it into crumbs and tossed on their Epic Sea Salt Caramels. It’s like making lemons into lemonade!

Why we love them:
Don’t be put off by the idea of burnt toast…these are alarmingly good! At initial whiff, you get that all too familiar fragrance of a breakfast gone awry. But, at first bite, you taste that over the top butter and get just the slightest crunch from the crumbs. The caramels finish with a slight hint of bread and are so rich that you’re good with just one as an afternoon snack.

Lark Fine Foods
Coconut Butter Cookies:

These rich, buttery cookies are loaded with toasted coconut and a hint of rum.

Salted Caramel Almond Chocolate Pearl Cookies:

Almond brittle, Caramelia chocolate pearls and a touch of sea salt accent these delicious cookies.

Why we love them:

These crisp little cookies are flavorful, and the combinations are just unique enough to make you stop and appreciate them.

Marlo’s Bakeshop
Chocolate Chip Brownie / Banana Bread / Brown Sugar Coffee Cake Soft Baked Biscotti (2 total):

This biscotti has the expected and satisfying crunch of the traditional Italian confection but with a more tender crumb. Flavors include Chocolate Chip Brownie, Banana Bread and Brown Sugar Coffee Cake. (Each box included 2 of the 3 flavors available)

Why we love them:
Most biscotti is tooth-breaking hard by design (biscotti means twice-baked), but these soft biscotti are what hard cookies wished they were. All three scrumptious flavors include big chunks of chips and nuts, they don’t skimp on the flavor. Feel free to dunk these into coffee to your heart’s content, just know you don’t have to.

Dallas Caramel Co.
Caramel Assortment – Sea Salt / Cinnamon / Chocolate / Apple Pie / Texas Drunken Nut (one of each flavor):

These creamy, soft caramels are handmade bites of happiness. Created with quality, all natural ingredients, flavors include Sea Salt, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Apple Pie and Texas Drunken Nut.

Why we love them:
If I had a complaint, it would be that we got teased with only one of each flavor. By the time I tried a few, I had a favorite and I desperately needed another. But I love assortments like this because it really highlights how much variety is possible with a humble caramel. The Texas Drunken Nut reminds me of my favorite bourbon pecan pie recipe and the Chocolate is like a certain ‘roll’ candy but easily 1,000 times better.
